Dona Ana County Plans DWI Checkpoints this Weekend
DONA ANA COUNTY- Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Deputies will be conducting sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols Nov. 26, 2011, and say the initiative will continue through December.
Increased patrols are an effort to reduce DWI-related crashes, injuries and deaths that could result from intoxicated drivers who choose to get behind the wheel.
Checkpoints will be held in various undisclosed locations throughout Doña Ana County between 6 p.m. and 4 a.m. During saturation patrols, deputies will be looking for all types of violations with an emphasis on intoxicated drivers.
New Mexico law also allows for the possible seizure or forfeiture of vehicles driven by people who have been convicted of multiple DWI offenses.
