DONA ANA COUNTY - From a wanted man arrested during a traffic stop to neighbors hearing gunshots, this is your Dona Ana County Crime Beat.


Dona Ana County Deputies say they arrested Alfred Marquez during a traffic stop Tuesday at the intersection of Sonoma ranch and Bataan Memorial West. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, Marquez had an outstanding warrant for battery against a household member. Deputies impounded Marquez' vehicle.

A man in the 2800 block of Swartz filed a criminal damage to property complaint Tuesday. Deputies say the man claims an ex-friend of his came to his residence and broke out the rear and driver side window of his vehicle. No other information was released about the case.


Neighbors in the 1800 block of Sunland heard gun shots and called police. Deputies say one neighbor reported seeing someone in the front yard with a flash light in one hand and what she believed to be a firearm in the other. Deputies detained that person, but they determined he did not have a weapon.
