Discolored Water Not a Threat for Las Crucens

Tuesday, June 21, 2011 - 11:52am

LAS CRUCES- The City of Las Cruces is warning its residents that they may experience some discolored water as a result of a flow test tomorrow.

City of Las Cruces Utilities will conduct a water hydrant fire flow test on Wednesday, June 22nd beginning at 10:00 p.m. The action could create discolored water for residents and businesses in the areas Solano Drive and Amador Avenue.

Residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese and calcium deposits. Although the water is safe to drink, the City recommends waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.

The discoloration should disappear within 24-hours. If it does not, residents should flush all faucets in the house or business for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the City of Las Cruces at 526-0500 for assistance.
