White Sands Missile Range- The parade field of the 2d Engineer Battalion was the setting for a farewell ceremony as soldiers ready to deploy to Afghanistan.

The 573rd Clearance Company of the 2d Engineer Battalion prepared for a 9 month deployment overseas. They have the tough job of clearing roads of I.E.D.'s or Improvised Explosive Devices. That's one of the biggest threats soldiers face while overseas.

Providing what the soldiers call a freedom of maneuverability is an important role in getting troops and supplies to and from the battlezones in this theater.

The deployment ceremony is the official community farewell to the "OUTLAWS" of the 2d Engineer Battalion.
