Downtown El Paso is getting tranformed to host the Neon Desert Music Festival. The event will bring nearly 30 local, regional, national and international bands to Cleveland Square Park and the San Jacinto Plaza. The all-day event will also have a number of food vendors, as well as cold drinks.

Crews began to put up fencing around the perimeter of the event and they'll soon be setting up the stages.

"We are closing off portions of Mills, Main, Oregon, Franklin and El Paso streets," said event organizer Zach Paul with Splendid Sun Productions. "We'll have four stages throughtout the entire area."

Topping the festival bill are headliners Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Group joined by Cedric Bixler-Zavala,
front man of The Mars Volta, on the Scion Stage; Toronto electronic duo MSTRKRFT on the
Mattress Firm stage; Monterrey, Mexico natives Kinky on the MTI Ready Mix stage; and Brazilian
indie rock band CSS on the Dick Poe HoyFox Stage.

In addition to music, concertgoers can view live art installations throughout the site by Ernesto
Yerena, Tocayo, Neko and Exist 1981 and other regional visual artists.

Tickets are available for $35 at or at all Western Beverages El Paso locations, All That Music and The Headstand. Fort Bliss soldiers and their families can purchase discounted $25 tickets at all Fort Bliss ticket outlets. Day-of tickets will be available at the festival. Neon Desert is a cash only event. Doors open at 11:00 a.m.

Get home safe. Sun City Cab Company will be on site and offer a special rate for Fort Bliss soldiers
and their families. Sun Metro will provide shuttles every 15 minutes between the festival and Glory
Road bus stop near UTEP. Parking will be available downtown at the Mills Parking Garage on Santa
Fe Street, and the Convention Center and Union Plaza garages.

A percentage of all revenues will be donated to Creative Kids and Amor Por Juarez and $1 of every
ticket sold will be allocated to the Parks and Recreation Department of El Paso.
