Coronado Motel Evacuated

Thursday, April 2, 2009 - 5:32pm

People living in the Coronado Motel on Mesa Street have been forced to find a new place to live. The city told the management the residents had 24 hours to leave. Victor Torres with the city development office says it was necessary because inspectors found electrical and fire code violations and no functioning fire or smoke alarm system.
The residents who had paid in advance waited around for refunds before leaving. The city helped the people find new places to stay. The city says the Coronado will remain shut down until the owner makes the necessary improvements.
