EL PASO- Some of those attending El Paso Comic Con will be going all out, dressing like their favorite comic book characters. We caught up with some of them to see what they've got up their sleeve for this weekend.

Dressed like one of his favorite characters, Gambit from X-Men, Oscar Cornejo shows us his super power: transferring energy to different objects.

"His trademark is he uses a lot of regular cards he throws them and that's how he created explosions," said Oscar.

Oscar won last year's El Paso Comic Con costume contest and, with 30 other costumes to pick from, he's sure he's got a pretty good chance to win this year's.  "On Saturday I’m going to come as Wolverine from X-Men II and on Sunday I’m going to come as the white ranger from the Power Rangers,” said Oscar.

But giving him some competition is none other than Spiderman, who grew up reading comic books.  "It helped me during nursing school because I hated reading," said Alex Gomez.

Will Spidey bring some friends in costume to the big convention?  "I don't think so. They're all responsible adults so they don't own any costumes but I will for sure. I don't really care," said Alex with a chuckle.

Adam Bedoya will dress the part, as Ash Ketchum from Pokemon. He comes to support his friends.  "I have a lot of friends who are artists here, local artists, so I’m going to come and show their support for them as well," said Adam.

So who are these comic book compadres looking forward to seeing?

"This year's convention, I’m looking most to the Power Rangers. I'm a big fan of them," said Oscar.

"One of my favorite artists-publishers, Andy Kahn is coming. He's published a lot of comic books. And Billy Dee Williams, of course," said Adam.

"I love star wars. That'll be pretty cool. I grew up with the Power Rangers, mainly the first set so that'll be pretty cool," said Alex.

El Paso Comic Con takes place at the El Paso Convention Center this Saturday and Sunday. The event is from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on both days. Tickets are $15 for one day and $25 for a two-day pass. You can buy tickets at Ticketmaster or at the Plaza Theater box office.
