Parents are warned against the improper use of a popular baby seat.
The U.S. Consumer Safety Commission has issued a statement about serious head injuries to infants using the popular Bumbo seat on elevated surfaces. The company, Bumbo International, voluntarily recalled the product once before in 2007 after incidents of skull fractures were reported when infants fell out of or toppled over the seat. Injuries also occurred while improperly using the seat on an elevated surface like a table, chair or counter top.
Those recalled Bumbo seats were replaced with new ones that have warning labels prohibiting the use of the product from an elevated surface. The new labels also indicate that the Bumbo would not prevent a child from falling out of the seat.
The newest recall last week stems from new reports of the same injuries from the same misuse. The company wants parents to use caution and always supervise the infant while using their product.
