Long wait times, equals loss of revenue.
That's the opinion of City Council and Mayor Cook. Some Pedestrians wait more than an hour to cross, while some private vehicles take longer. Commercial vehicles can take up to four-and-a-half hours of waiting. That means there's no money being made for either country during the wait.
City Council voted unanimously to allow Mayor Cook to ask the State Comptroller for assistance. Susan Combs has that title. She is the Chief Steward of the state's finances, acting as Tax Collector, Chief Accountant, Chief Revenue Estimator and Chief Treasurer for all of state government. Specifically, El Paso is asking for the Comptroller to find the additional funding to solve our infrastructure problems.
