It was an unusual morning at a business on Railroad Drive near Loop 375. The H-R director ran into an unexpected guest that has raised a concern over rabies. Carlos Vasquez was walking into work at El Pso Lamination Company when he saw the bobcat. He called animal control who surrounded the cat while police blocked off the street.
The state veterinarian came in to take a look and was immediately concerned because the bobcat was acting strangely. He suspected rabies. A game warden shot the cat with a tranquilizer dart. It was then taken to animal control where it was euthanized. Lab results to determine whether the cat had rabies will take about 48 hours.
