Bobcat did NOT have Rabies

The bobcat that was captured in Northeast El Paso and euthanized on Tuesday did not have rabies. Testing for rabies requires an animal be killed and its brain examined. Texas state veterinarian Dr. Ken Waldrup says rabies causes bizarre behavior in animals and the bobcat was acting strangely so it was euthanized and tested. He says the bobcat is also being tested for other diseases such as canine distemper and protozoan diseases. He says those results will take about two weeks.
