Hoards of people hitting the streets while some are in bed may actually be a good sign, not just for retailers but for the economy as a whole.

Stores throughout the nation opened up their doors as early as midnight. While consumers are on the hunt for a good deal, retailers are keeping an eye on them as they spend their money. Experts say Black Friday is a preview of how the rest of the shopping season will go, which could mean big profits.

Dr. Tom Fullerton, an Economics Professor at UTEP say Black Friday is when most stores make the bulk of their profit. He adds, the US labor market is looking good, as is consumer and retailer confidence.
