When you think of ballet class, it normally brings to mind girls whose families can afford private lessons. But one school principal in Central El Paso realized there was a ballet teacher in the school and now the girls at Aoy Elementary are learning the world of tights and toe shoes.
Dolores Chacon is actually a kindergarten teacher at Aoy. She learned ballet as a little girl and she wants to give the girls there a chance to enjoy it like she does. Since Dolores knows how to teach ballet, the principal of Aoy asked her to teach the class during the girl's P.E. period.
Dolores jumped at the chance to teach and give back to the community. The girls love the chance to do something different and if a girl's family can't afford the ballet clothes, the school will provide them.
