LAS CRUCES- Local and federal agents are investigating whether the parlors were fronts for prostitution.
The owner of a business next door to one of the spas says he's been suspicious of the massage parlor for quite some time.
Men coming in and out of Bally Hot Stone Spa at all hours of the night. That's what Freddy Solorio says he witnessed for the past six months.
"I’d come in to lock up the office, make sure the windows are locked up and maybe I forget something and I’d come in and I’d see, you know, Corvettes, Escalades, Hummers, you know it be 9, 10, 11 o'clock at night when the guys would be coming in and out," says Solorio.
Solorio says the women would get dropped off and picked up in taxis. When they showed up to work they were fully clothed, but that wasn't the case for long.
"If you saw the person here in the front, she was pretty professional. Sometimes I’d go out to the back to throw some trash and you could tell something else was going on because you know, the way they were dressed in little short skirts and whatever," says Solorio.
Las Cruces Police say they have arrested 62-year-old Suk Cha and have not ruled out human sex trafficking.
"One of our officers who was actually alerted to an ad on Craigslist that promoted prostitution pretty much. So from that the investigation began," says Danny Trujillo, LCPD.
Trujillo says the language in their ad is what blew their cover.
"It said come on in for beautiful, friendly women. Well an ad for a message parlor that's legitimate probably wouldn't mention 'beautiful' because that probably wouldn't matter," says Trujillo.
With a child's dance studio next door, Solorio says he was most concerned about the children’s safety.
"There are kids you know. You got guys coming in here with money. You never know what they are looking for,” says Solorio.
Police say undercover officers went into the massage parlors at least twice and both times officers were offered sexual services.
