LAS CRUCES- The man accused of robbing the Wells Fargo on Main Street has now been arrested.
A tip called into Crime Stoppers led investigators from Las Cruces Police and the FBI to the arrest of Gregory S. Miller, 52.
Miller is expected to be charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office with one federal count of bank robbery.
Police were called to Wells Fargo bank shortly after 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, after a man walked into the bank and displayed a note that demanded money. The suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and was seen heading southbound on foot.
An area resident saw a report of the robbery on television Wednesday evening and recognized Miller as possibly being the suspect photographed by one of the bank’s surveillance cameras. The resident called Las Cruces Crime Stoppers and relayed that information to investigators.
On Tuesday morning investigators contacted Miller and questioned him about the robbery. Investigators were able to gather enough evidence to make an arrest.
Miller will be held without bond at the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
