El Paso - It all began at an East El Paso drive-up ATM on a Friday night in March 2000.

Sophia Martinez, just 18-years old at the time, stopped to withdraw some cash before a blind date.

But she would never make it.

William Josef Berkley robbed Martinez at the ATM, before kidnapping her and shooting her five times in the head.

Police found her body two days later in the Northeast El Paso desert.

Two years later it took a jury only three hours of deliberating before convicting Berkley of Capital Murder.

This piece of human scumbag deserved the death penalty and he got it. To bad they couldn't shoot him five times in the head and face, and let him linger like he did Sophia! I applaud Texas for getting rid of these human animals for the crimes that they commit! We are tired of footing the bill for these sick pieces of vermin while they sit in prison eating 3 squares a day, exercising, and murdereing other inmantes and correctional staff! Good bye and god riddance to this garbage! RIP in Sophia.

It's a great day in Texas and the world when an animal like that is put to death! May you rest in peace Sophia, and may your family have closure and peace of mind. That SOB has finally paid for what he did, not the way he should have but the only option for an animal like that. Thank the Lord for having Prosecutors in this world that wear the white hat and fight for justice! Let this be a message to all.
