For the second time in four years, the San Elizario boys soccer team are state champions. The Eagles were welcomed home Saturday afternoon with a sheriff escort and the fire department's presence, as well as lots of cheering from family and friends.
The New Mexico State softball team closed out its series Western Athletic Conference opponent Utah Valley on Saturday from Wolverine Field. NM State evened the series with the 5-3 victory in the opening contest of the doubleheader but fell to the Wolverines 7-6 in the series finale.
The El Paso Chihuahuas finished their sweep of the Reno Aces with an 11-3 win Friday night at Greater Nevada Field. It was El Paso's first regular season sweep since August 28-31, 2017 at home versus Fresno. Including last September's postseason series, the Chihuahuas have won 10 consecutive games against Reno.

But the Rebels (24-18) held off the Miners' (18-27) rally, winning 8-4 on a brisk and breezy Friday night at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex in front of a rowdy and loud crowd of 451 fans.
