Las Cruces Boxing Documentary Premieres Wednesday
LAS CRUCES- “Let’s Shine”, a 90-minute documentary film about the Las Cruces Police Athletic League Boxing Club will have a one-time premiere tomorrow.
The premiere begins at 7:15 p.m. at Cineport 10 at the Mesilla Valley Mall. "Let's Shine" was directed by three-time Emmy® award winning director Adrian Guzman.
“Let’s Shine” gives an in-depth look at the program’s main focus of keeping “at-risk” youth off the streets, off drugs and out of jail by teaching them discipline through boxing. The documentary also provides an overview of the program’s current operation, along with its 40-year history, but mainly focuses on the individual stories of four young boxers within the program and there journey to be the best they can be inside and outside of the ring.
While successfully implementing discipline to its kids, the Las Cruces PAL Boxing Club has also produced state, national and world champions in the process. “Let’s Shine” points out that in 2011 alone, Las Cruces PAL produced eight state champions, one national champion, one Olympian and one world champion. PAL says that neither the program, nor their boxers receive the credit they deserve from the community.
Remaining tickets will be sold the night of the showing- first come, first serve. For information, call 575-541.2026. For more information on the film, go to www.clctv.com. Adrian Guzman can be reached at 575/649.9724 or firstname.lastname@example.org
