Some elementary students in El Paso are getting ready to start their holiday break with lots of goodies thanks to the Junior League of El Paso.

The organization held a Christmas party for the fifth-grade class at Clardy Elementary in South El Paso and even had Santa pay a visit. About 100 students enjoyed hot cocoa, cookies and treats, then lined up excitedly to receive their presents. The Junior League sponsors the fifth graders thrughout the school year by providing them with food bags every Friday.

"The attendance has increased tremendously," said Nici King, with the Junior League of El Paso. "Attendance is almost at 100% every single Friday because they look forward to the bags of food they're provided each week.

The West Texas Food Bank partnered with the Junior League to provide the students with food boxes to get them through the two week break. The kids also received a gift certificate so their families can buy a turkey or ham for the holidays.
