MEDICAL NEWS: Altitude Sickness While Flying

By Elsa Valenzuela

Airplane passengers who feel a little light-headed and achy during long flights could be suffering from a mild form of altitude sickness.

Physicians simulated the air pressure that's felt in flight. After three hours, study participants were more likely to report headaches and shortness of breath, among other discomforts.

Researchers say decreasing the cabin pressure could help some people feel better, but would add to the cost of planes.
