Thursday, June 7, 2007 - Fewer people are dying from heart disease -- an accomplishment that many survivors can thank themselves for.

Unsing data that spans 20 years, CDC researchers found nearly 350,000 heart disease-related deaths were prevented between 1980 and 2000.

Researchers attribute the new statistics to better treatments and medications, and the simple fact that people are making beneficial lifestyle changes like quitting smoking, exercising and eating healthy.
