Friday, May 11, 2007 - Having a broken heart is not only a metaphor for feeling sad - it's a real medical condition. Doctors don't know much about this rare condition, only that some sort of traumatic event happens before heart attack symptoms start. During surgery doctors can't find any blockages - even though the EKG scans signal a heart attack. Now researchers have started a national registry of broken heart syndrome patients, with the hopes of best options for long-term care.
