Waterproof Your iPod and Transfer Files With a Tornado

By KTSM Features

Saturday, February 24, 2007 - Want to take your iPod into the shower?  How about to the pool?  Now you can.  The EGO Waterproof Sound Case from Atlantic is just the ticket.

EGO is a boombox for your iPod with waterproof speakers (great bass response) and a snap lid with a rubber gasket that seals tight to protect your iPod.  And it still allows you full access to your control wheel.

The EGO takes any size iPod, from the Nano to the Video model.  You just turn your iPod on, attach the plug that's connected to the EGO's speakers to the headphone jack, slip it inside and close it.  Turn on the EGO and you're set.  I even took the EGO out in a recent rainstorm and it performed just fine.  Oh, if you happen to drop the EGO don't panic, the case is shatterproof and the pocket that holds your iPod is shock resistant.  And yes, the EGO floats, so grab one and take it to the pool this summer.  It retails for $200.  Get more information at www.lovemyego.com

If you've bought a new computer with Windows Vista and you're getting ready to transfer the files from your old computer, there are dozens of products that will do file transfers.  With most you have to load software on to both machines that helps you with the file transfer.  But I found one product that will transfer files and all you do is plug it in to a USB port.  It's called Tornado by Data Drive Thru.

Tornado will move single files, a folder, or your entire hard drive if you want.  Paul Andrus, the CEO of Data Drive Thru, showed me how it works.

"I'm going to plug the first cable into this laptop into the USB port.  Now the light (on the Tornado) tells me it's connected and the software is auto running with me doing anything.  And I'm going to plug the second cable into the other laptop and it'll do the same thing.  Load and auto run the software.  You see a split screen come up (on both computers, showing the hard drives for each)...done."

When everything is connected, Tornado is bi-directional, so it doesn't matter which computer you use to transfer the files.  Tornado's cables stretch four feet...a big help if you don't have the computers side by side.  It retails for $60.  You can get more information at www.thetornado.com
