Appeal Hearing For Daniel Villegas Scheduled For September
EL PASO - An appeal hearing for an El Paso man convicted of murder who maintains his innocence has been postponed until September.
Daniel Villegas, now 34, was convicted of a drive-by shooting in the northeast back in 1993. He was only 16 at the time and says he was coerced into confessing.
Villegas' appeal hearing began in June but was postponed when a witness came forward after seeing billboards about Villegas around town.
The appeal hearing, which is Villegas' last chance to become a free man, has been rescheduled for September 6th through the 9th.
