Cold Case Is Solved After 8 Years

By Elsa Valenzuela

Thursday, October 26, 2006 - A cold case may have been solved after a suspect was found after eight years. He was found in the most unlikely of places...behind bars. Larry Lujan, 28, has been charged with two counts of murder in the case of an eight year-old murder in Chamberino, New Mexico. He has also been charged with arson, bribery and tampering with evidence. Pablor Renteria, 29, who deputies say was with Lujan the night of the crime, has also been charged.

Lujan was already in the Dona Ana County Jail awaiting trial for stabbing Dana Grauke to death and leaving his body in a canal in Anthony in 2005. In the course of that investigation, deputies talked to witnesses and linked Lujan and Renteria to the 1998 murder. In that case, Juan Olmeda and Alfredo Gonzalez were found dead in their home in 1998. They had been stabbed repeatedly. Investigators say Renteria and Lujan robbed Olmeda and Gonzales and tried to burn the evidence, but that Lujan was the one who killed them.
