HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. – Holloman Air Force’s 49th Wing Historian, Ralph Jackson, has recovered rare video footage from President Kennedy’s visit to Holloman A.F.B.

The video was shot on June 5, 1963 and features President Kennedy and Vice President Lyndon Johnson shaking hands with people in the crowd around the base.

According to information from the WSMR Museum Archives web site, JFK was only on the ground at Holloman for five minutes, but his visit would mark the first time in recorded history the President of the United States visited the base – President George W. Bush was the second when he visited in 2004.
