Franklin Star Not Playing in Opener

EL PASO - High school football season kicks off this week and one of Franklin High's best players won't be with his team.

Logan Mansfield, the Cougars' all-district lineman, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault after a fight with one of his teammates.

District leaders says Mansfield is currently at an alternative school and not on the football team.

But they say that doesn't rule out a possible return.

he should not return! that is the problem w/ schools and their administrators...they believe that just because the student is a good athlete that rules him out from his behavior. shame on them. what are they teaching that child and any other child? discipline needs to be consistent regardless of that child's athletic ability. rules are rules and just as they are sticklers for football rules, they should stick to school rules for bullies!

SUZY U ARE RIGHT. THIS KID SHOULD NOT RETURN TO ANY GAME ALL YEAR. THE RULES APPLY TO EVERY ONE AND IF U BREAK ONE , U PAY THE CONSEQUENCES, THIS WILL BE A GOOD LESSON FOR THE ASSAULTER , NEXT TIME HE MIGHT KEEP HIS COOL INSTEAD OF TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE NEW KID ON THE BLOCK. LARRY

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT MS SUZY. THE BULLY SHOULD NOT RETURN TO ANY GAME ALL YEAR. THE RULES APPLY TO EVERY ONE , AND ATLETE OR NOT , YOU BREAK IT , YOU PAY. THIS WILL TEACH HIM TO BE SMARTER NEXT TIME HE WANTS TO SHOW OFF AND BULLY ANOTHER. LARRY

OF COURSE THIS WANNABE BULLY DESERVES TO NOT PLAY. FOOTBALL IS A SPORT , NOT A TIME FOR A COWARD TO SHOW OFF INFRONT OF TEAMATES. THE VICTIM AND HIS FAMILY SHOULD TRY AND PERSUE MORE LEGAL CHARGES , LEADING TO SUING THE ASSAULTER AND HIS FAMILY IN COURT. LARRY
