Fourth of July Events in the Borderland

You can't shoot fireworks in the Borderland, but there's still lots of places to view a professional show. Below is a list of events happening this weekend and some places you can still find fireworks displays.


Street Fest 2011- July 1 &2:
Dozens of performers over two days of festivities, the Street Fest will include fireworks, food and fun. Gates open at 6pm both nights. Fireworks start at 10PM.

Ink Life Tattoo and Music Festival: July 1-3
2nd annual tattoo showdown at the coliseum. Free tattoo giveaways and battle of the bands. Tickets available at ticketmaster and at the door.

Sacred Heart Kermes: July 1-2
Located at the Sacred heart Church on South Oregon Street, this two-day festival includes food, game booths, music and more. 


El Paso Diablos Home Games- July 2-5
Join your Diablos as they battle the Lincoln Saltdogs at Cohen Stadium. Sunday is Quartermania! Get your 25 cent hotdogs and ice cream sandwiches! Fireworks after all games.


Music Under the Stars- July 3
The El Paso Wind Symphony will play at Chamizal National Memorial at 7 pm. This free show is accompanied by a patriotic fireworks show.

Rotary Club Parade: July 4th
The West El Paso Rotary club will be hosting the Westside Independence Day Parade at 9:00 am.

Lions Club Parade: July 4th
Parade beings at Hanks High School at 9:00 a.m. More information 731-1549

Up and Running 5th Annual 5k: July 4
Monday, July 4, 2010 on N. Mesa in the Rudolph Plaza Shopping Center. All runners receive patriotic tie dyed short sleeved t-shirt sports drink, watermelon and hot dogs available at finish line.

Speaking Rock Concert:
Speaking Rock free concert series presents Tesla this Friday at the Speaking Rock Entertainment Center, 122 S. Old Pueblo Road in El Paso. Free concert and fireworks.



Fourth of July Fun Run: July 2
Fourth of July Fun Run and 8K Run will start at 6 a.m. Saturday at Kohl's parking lot in Las Cruces.
Cost is $7 for the 1 mile fun run, $15 for the 8K, if registered by Thursday, and $20 on race day.
Participation includes T-shirts and trophies for top 8K runners. (575) 541-2563

10th Annual Country Picnic- July 4
Musical entertainment will be provided by “Live By Request". La Vina will have tents, tables and chairs set up, but you may wish to bring your own lawn chairs. There will be croquet, badminton, and a water slide. Admission is free.
