EL PASO - An El Paso woman is charged with child endangerment after throwing her baby at her husband.

The incident involving Erika Esparza happened last night in the presence of a sheriff's deputy.

The deputy was helping Esparza's husband retrieve items from his home because he was separated from her.

The husband managed to catch the child after it was thrown in his direction.

As the deputy was handcuffing Esparza, he says she began punching him and bit his left hand.

Both the child and the deputy escaped serious injury.
