UPDATE: Gas Line Rupture on Gateway East Shut Off

EL PASO - Emergency officials responded to a ruptured gas main at Gateway East and Giles that has area traffic at a halt. According to the El Paso Fire Department (EPFD), Texas Gas services has been able to isolate the gas line break and shut it off. 

Police are blocking I-10 from Bassett to Airway and working to divert traffic because of the leak. 

EPFD reported that a construction company working in the area hit a main line, causing the surge of white plumes in the area. Viewers are reporting strong gas odors driving by the area. According to the EPFD Twitter, a 40-year-old female was home when she started to feel some symptoms of nausea and feeling lightheaded, and was taken to a nearby hospital. Three Texas Gas Service employees were treated for gas inhalation at the scene, they were not transported.
