Traffic Stop Led to Pot Bust

EL PASO - An officer assigned to the Pebble Hills Regional Command Center’s Gang Tactical Unit arrested three men on charges of possession of marijuana.

The investigation began as a traffic stop on a 1994 Mercury Cougar for various traffic violations.

The officer identified 19 year old Victor Morales as the driver of the vehicle.

The two passengers were also identified as 20 year old Cristopher Balles and 27 year old Jorge Delarosa.

The officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and ultimately received consent to search the vehicle.

Assisting officers located over three pounds of marijuana partially concealed in the trunk of the vehicle.

Morales, Balles and Delarosa were all booked in to the El Paso County Detention Facility on charges of Possession of Marijuana over 4 ounces and under 5 pounds.
