FABENS - Law enforcers have identified the Hudspeth County rancher who shot two people on suspicion of trespassing.

Joseph Denton, 52, a retired mechanic, fired at the pair with a rifle.

Investigators say Norberto Velez, 55, and his son, 32-year-old Norangel Velez, were in a pickup truck when the rancher opened fire.

When the investigation is complete, the report will be turned over to the El Paso County District Attorney's Office for submission to a grand jury.

Denton has not been charged with a crime.
