Dozens of local students had the chance to show off their talents and have fun at the same time. Canutillo Elementary held its first-ever young athletes olympics, sponsored by Special Olympics.
The event gave kindergartners and students with disabilities the chance to compete alongside each other. The school cafeteria had a number of agility stations set up, with everything from crawl-through tunnels to balance beams.
"We've gotten lots of support, a really, really great response," said Canutillo Elementary School coordinator Stephanie Zelenak. "The kids are having a great time and the kids are enjoying it as well."
More than 100 students participated in the event. The school plans on holding this again next year.
