Good news for future nurses here in El Paso.

The Texas Tech Board of Regents announced Thursday the approval of a permanent, free-standing school of nursing in El Paso.

The campus is currently a satellite school.

El Paso is considered a medically under-served city because of the low number of healthcare providers including nurses.

The founding Dean says the new school will help provide better health care for the Borderland.

Your title of this story is patently untrue! The UTEP School of Nursing, in existence since 1976, is fully accredited at both the undergraduate and graduate levels by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Full accreditation was renewed for 10 years in 2009. A simple visit to the School's website would have confirmed this had your news team made the effort to check their story! Shame on you for your obvious lack of journalistic integrity.
