El PASO - About 150 senior citizens across El Paso are participating in the 2011 El Paso Senior Games. The games started Monday morning with a table tennis competition in central El Paso.
The 29th annual El Paso Senior Games are part of the El Paso Parks and Recreation Department. There are a variety of events during the two week-long event. Some of the athletic events include swimming, cycling, golf, tennis and track and field.
Participants range from 50 years of age to 90 years and beyond. Organizers say the games are one way to promote physical activity for seniors in the city.
The games wrap up April 22 with an award ceremony and banquet.
