A Hunky New Year
EL PASO - Hot, hot, hot off the press...
"Hopefully everybody's year will get off to a good start seeing me."
Ring in the new year with Mister January and his fellow firefighters showing off their guns and hoses in this 2011 calendar.
"It was a lot of hard work getting in shape and getting ready for the calendar, but I was happy with it."
These calendar boys bring the heat to raise money for the city's Combat Challenge Team... a group of five firefighters... who participate in a task-based competition once dubbed the toughest two minutes in sports by ESPN.
"The calendar is to help us as a team compete and help us with our expenses and stuff like that, our entry fees and as far as the gear that we need, all that kind of stuff."
Lieutenant John Killings... Mister June himself... says proceeds will also benefit the local Make-A-Wish Foundation... which makes showing some skin worth the jokes from co-workers.
"You get picked on a little bit and people joke with you about it a little bit, but for the most part I think they see it as it's casting firefighters here in El Paso in a positive light."
And twas weeks before Christmas...
"It's a perfect stocking stuffer. They fit really good rolled up inside of a stocking."
In just a week and a half... about 400 calendars have sold... so get 'em while they're hot for just $10 a piece at Crossfit of El Paso East or West... or at Kinley House Coffee and Tea. The team will also sell copies at Sunland Park Mall on Black Friday.
