El Paso City Leaders Honor Victims and Heroes of 9/11
EL PASO - City leaders led a ceremony to remember all those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks a decade ago.
The ceremony, at Fire Fighters Memorial Park in Downtown El Paso, also honored the first responders who lost their lives as they tried to rescue people trapped in the towers. Mayor John Cook, Police Chief Greg Allen, Fire Chief Otto Drozd and Congressman Silvestre Reyes all spoke at the ceremony.
"We've got heroes living in this community that we should pay tribute to," said Reyes. The ceremony also honored local first responders.
"We need to be vigilant about protecting this country and one way of doing that is remembering 911," said Police Chief Greg Allen.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the terrorist attacks.
