Downtown Shooting Prompts Press Conference

EL PASO - Mayor John Cook will hold a press conference Tuesday at 5 p.m. to address a shooting where a single bullet hit a woman in the leg while she was walking through downtown El Paso.  

Major Cook will be accompanied from Police Chief Greg Allen and Sheriff Richard Wiles, all of whom will be sharing details on today's shooting and the measured being taken in addressing the situation. 

The shooting occured around 11 a.m. in front of 200 E. Overland. The woman shot did not suffer life-threatening injuries however she was transported to University Medical Center for treatment. 

Police still will not confirm that the bullet came from across the border.

There is that "crossover violence" that Republicans kept scaring people about a short while ago. Whatever happened to the "green light" that the Barrio Azteca had issued to kill EPPD officers also? A stray bullett is a scary thing I admitt, but even more so are the false statments made by public officials and law enforcement agencies here in Texas to bring about their own political agendas here along the Mexican border.
