Crime of the Week: Illegal Tire Dump in Northeast El Paso

Saturday, October 1, 2011 - 6:50pm

EL PASO - Police are hoping you can help them track down two men who dumped dozens of tires in a Northeast El Paso neighborhood.

On August 23rd, neighbors saw the men dump about 30 commercial tires in this empty lot at the intersection of Partello Street and Lincoln Avenue.

The men arrived in separate vehicles and drove off before police showed up. The suspects are both Hispanic. One of them was driving a blue pickup truck while the other was in a 1990's Pontiac.

"The suspects are believed to be in the business of selling used tires to be re-tread,” said Javier Sambrano, spokesperson for the El Paso Police Department. “Those tires that are not sold are dumped in an empty lot to avoid the disposal fees associated with getting rid of the tires."

If you have any information that could help police track down the men responsible for the illegal dumping call Crime Stoppers at 566-TIPS.
