City Holds Press Conference To Announce Next Steps For Lauching Props 1, 2, 3
El Paso County voters overwhelmingly approved Props 1,2, and 3 Tuesday night, giving the city a laundry list of projects to manage.
City manager Joyce Wilson is scheduled to meet with engineers soon to lay down a timeline for Prop 1 and 2's different projects. Wilson will also consider financing options for the projects but wants to make sure that paying for them won't significantly raise taxes.
Engineers expect to begin construction on the baseball stadium as early as January or February of next year to be ready for the 2014 season. City council now needs to formally authorize the 2% hotel tax increase that will pay for the ballpark project.
City Hall will be demolished by April 1st. Employees will be relocated to temporary housing because the city needs to renovate the 2 buildings they want to use as the new City Hall.
