EL PASO— An arrest has been made in the Alto Sol Apartments fire late last month, and for the assault of two women.

Orlando Robles, 29, was arrested and charged with burglary and aggravated assault, after El Paso police investigators said Robles intentionally set fire to the apartment complex.

On Feb. 26, EPPD responded to a call in the 4500 block of Sunrise at 2:30 a.m. Police said Robles entered an apartment through a window, and dragged a 30-year-old woman out of the apartment by her hair, and punched her several times in the face. Robles also threatened a 23-year-old female with a large piece of glass.

Robles left the apartment complex.

Both female victims were treated at the scene.

Officers checking the scene saw Robles jumping a rock wall from the complex and began chasing him. After a short foot pursuit, Robles was caught and arrested, where he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary of habitation; his bond was set at $60,000.

As Robles was taken into custody, a fire began at the complex.

18 fire units & 50 firefighters responded to the scene. Firefighters said there was heavy fire from a lower level apartment unit. The fire was coming from a back bedroom window, and was affecting an apartment unit above. Two other units on the side of the upper unit also had smoke damage.

No injuries were reported, and the damage was estimated at $50,000. 9 people were affected by the fire.

Investigators with the El Paso Fire Department found enough evidence at the scene of the fire to charge Robles with arson.
