Scientists Offer Possible Explanation for Dead Birds Phenomenon

POSTED: Wednesday, January 5, 2011 - 9:12pm

UPDATED: Friday, February 4, 2011 - 1:29pm

Scientists have a preliminary cause, after thousands of birds dropped dead in Arkansas, over the weekend.

Fireworks may have caused the red-winged blackbirds to fly at night, causing them to hit things they couldn't see.
The story has made some people nervous, but one local expert says this type of thing happens fairly often.

"Smaller scale bird die offs do happen pretty frequently around the entire United States," Dr. Victoria Milne said.  "So I'm sure that some bird die-offs have occurred in Texas from all kinds of different causes."

Scientists have said however, that these conclusions are just theories, and can't be proven 100%.

This is the actual quote.
"And when one of you falls down he falls for those behind him, a caution against the stumbling stone.
Ay, and he falls for those ahead of him, who though faster and surer of foot, yet removed not the stumbling stone."

Hey my friend what you say is worth consideration. Consider this as well... can you state your point without disrespecting the people you are aiming to reach? God blesses you with Love so that you can reach out to other people with Love. 1 Corinthians chapter 13, my friend!

come on people...IT IS THE END OF DAYS!!! Stop being ignorant and WAKE UP!! Reconcile with God and repent...

My friend your words are disrespectful and contrary to God. In summary God is Love and if you are not speaking with a Loving tongue then you are worshipping a false representation of God. If you are asking me to reconcile with God. I am and I reconcile with God everyday even when I lose my way I can find it back by remembering first that God is Love. I am not mad that you called me ignorant but disheartened that you believe that you know. God bless you.

how many of you have ever seen mass bird deaths like this. i am 43 and lived through many 4th of july and new years and never seen or heard of fireworks causing mass deaths of anything. c'mon im not saying its the end of the world but look around at all the stories being reported.its not fireworks, with the exception of gunpowder being found on these birds how could it ever be proven fireworks was the cause. cant believe people actually believe this crap.fireworks in arkansas so how could la.not?

Warnings on fireworks and notes on calendars not to set off fireworks on certain days? They are only allowed 2 days out of the year in Arkansas - Independence Day and New Years. Perhaps you can contact your fine feathered friends and arrive at a mutually agreable date so we can set off fireworks. Better yet, why don't we create little helmets for them to protect them from the noise and brain injury? We have gone from a nation of warriors to a nation of worriers!

Why they all fall in same area, what hit them all in the same city. If this theory is true they would have been spread in wide area. This theory does not seem to fit the event happen. Also the fish and birds ought to be related. Please do proper research.

More dead flocks in East Texas...

Considering that fish were also killed, it may appear just as likely that it was not fireworks - in which cse the problem might be worse than fireworks being the cause (as that could easily be remedied). I'm anxious to see what the actual cause was. - An anxious voice.

If it turns out to be true that fireworks were the cause of so much death to nature, to these innocent birds, shame on those who fired them and I hope politicians put a stop to these senseless killings. That means that beginning today, we print the warning signs and post on our calendars to announce on these certain days, not to set off fireworks for the sake of preserving nature's defenseless animals. I'm just a voice but you're the ears and the force who can respond to this warning. A Voice.

God shall wrath upon the self-righteous and wicked alike. - remember that when you post about how well off you are b/c you read the bible and how damned we are because (PRESUMABLY BY YOU) we don't. Let he (who is without sin)cast the first stone eh?

Shall I not only judge those who fall upon the sumbling stone, but those too before he who knew of it's existence and left it there?
