EL PASO - A match between "guns and hoses"... the El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association and the El Paso Association of Fire Fighters Local 51 will present the third annual "Battle of the Badges"... where about 20 of the city's first responders will duke it out for charity.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the El Paso Area Red Cross and the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics of Texas.  "Battle of the Badges" Coordinator Rick Marin says the fire department hopes to bring the heat in an effort to keep last year's title.

"Once you go up in the ring it's a totally different game, but they all know it's all for good fun and it's a good rivalry.  Like I said, there's no hard feelings.  They all know it's for charity and that's what they're doing it for."

"Battle of the Badges" begins tonight at 7 at the El Paso County Coliseum... where professional boxer Antonio Escalante will make an appearance.

Please please, get your story right before airing. Your host said that the Police Department won. However they were wrong, the Fire Department for the second year in a row won BOB (Battle of the Badge). Thank you.
